Mr. Rudd was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and over his lifetime has developed strong family and personal ties throughout Broward County. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School and while there played a variety of sports, including football. Mr. Rudd was named an All County defensive end by the Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinel. Upon graduating from high school, he was awarded a Division II football Scholarship in North Carolina.

After leaving North Carolina, he moved to Colorado where he worked in the oil fields. During this period of his life, Mr. Rudd was trained and licensed to operate an 18 wheel-tractor trailer. He worked on oil and gas well sites and was eventually promoted to the top position on site by age 21. It was during this time that he learned the meaning of earning a living through hard work.

After approximately two years, he returned to Florida to attend law school. In 1985 he entered St. Thomas University School of Law. During law school, Mr. Rudd was involved in Moot Court Competition and served as Clerk for the Administrative Judge of the Family Division of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Richard Yale Feder. It was this experience which ignited his current interest in courtroom competition.

After graduation from law school, he began employment at an insurance defense firm that gave him the chance to try his skills at litigation. In 1989, he went to work for the law firm of Barnett, Clark & Bernard. This employment involved a heavy trial schedule. In two and a half years, Mr. Rudd tried over thirty cases and achieved outstanding results. Since that time, Mr. Rudd has handled a variety of cases including commercial and domestic property loses, fraudulent claims, commercial vehicles, and "toxic tort" cases.

While managing his own practice for the last 15 years, Mr. Rudd has served as Judge for Moot Court Competition at local law schools, and served as an attorney for abused children pursuant to the Guardian Ad Litem Program. Mr. Rudd was appointed to a 3 year term as a member of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee (1997) and the Florida Bar Arbitration Committee (1995). Mr. Rudd has also been a Board member of the Boy’s and Girls Club of Broward County (1994). In addition to the Florida Bar and Federal Trial Bar for the Southern District Court of Appeals, Mr. Rudd is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals in the 11
th Circuit and 9th Circuit.
